WESTMORELAND CONSERVATION COMMISSION

August 2, 2007

The meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. with Jim Blake, George Duke, Walter Derjue, Dick Schmidt and Jeff Smith in attendance. Jim conducted the meeting in Marshall’s absence.

The minutes were read and approved with two changes. In the 4th paragraph, 3rd line the word “hour” should be deleted so that it now reads “into 2 shifts” and in the 6th paragraph, third line delete “said he” and add “and Marshall”.

Jim reported there had been no changes to the Conservation Fund.

Jim’s proposed letter to the Planning Board regarding the issue of wetlands being considered as part of the review process was read, discussed, and approved. Both the Major and Minor Checklists had successfully made it through the Planning Board’s review process, but apparently the Site Plan Review Checklist had been overlooked.

There was nothing new to report regarding the Owl’s Hill dam issue.

Dick read a notice about an upcoming public meeting of the Cheshire County Delegation County Farm Advisory Committee on Wednesday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Keene Public Library regarding permanent protection of the County Farm property. All those who have an interest in this issue are urged to attend.

Jim mentioned he had received a notice from the Granite State Rural Water Association out of Penacook, NH offering their services to help communities protect their drinking water supplies. It is apparently funded by grants and as a result it is believed to be a service provided at no cost to the community. After some discussion, it seemed like a good idea to look into this a little bit further.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
