Selectmen's Minutes

PRESENT:

Dave called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.
PUBLIC BUSINESS:
Bob Hamilton, tender of the town clock, voiced concern for the Town
Hall tower clock. The tower is filthy - dirt, dust, assorted
carcasses. The dirt has gotten into the mechanics of the clock
creating the potential for serious and costly damage. The tower
should be cleaned. Second, the clock will need major work at some
point - is money available? Bob suggested a capitol fund of $3500 be
set up for the maintenance of the clock which will be 100 years old
in 2017. The Selectboard will discuss this further at budget time.
Road Agent Gary Hudson (1) presented a written policy regarding Class
VI roads. The board signed in agreement and the policy was passed
along to the Planning board for their input, changes, approval. (2)
Standards. These are taken from the state standards. Dave motioned to
accept the document, Marjorie seconded the motion. (3) The
raised its share of the cost of replacing the
roads as Emergency Lanes was discussed and will be addressed at the
next meeting. (5)

address two of these known issues.
SELECTMEN'S MINUTES:
Marjorie motioned to accept the minutes of
seconded the motion. All in favor so voted.
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:
$15,455.56 Dave moved to approve the accounts payable, Marjorie
seconded the motion.
NEW BUSINESS:
Intent to cut timber: Arthur Cooley R5,
NH Association of Assessing Officials 2009 election official ballot.
As we had no knowledge regarding any of the candidates, we chose not
to vote.
Historical Society letter regarding the Boston Post Cane: The
Historical Society has purchased a replica of the Boston Post Cane
which, by tradition is given to the oldest resident for use then
passed on to the next. The selectmen approve with the understanding
that the Historical Society will keep track of it.
Selectmen's office copier: The repair person under contract to
maintain the copier has suggested that we consider a new (to us)
replacement which would cost $2000 or less. The Selectboard will
address this at budget time.
Jim Cemorelis gave us an update on particular ongoing situations. The
board discussed them at length. Also discussed was use of radar
controlled speed trailers. Jim will look into the cost of this.
The Town has received a check for $300 to go towards the cost of the
new dish washer in the Town Hall. The check represents contributions
from an anonymous donor and from the Ladies Aid of the
A letter was received from the Conservation Commission suggesting the
formation of a committee to improve energy costs in town buildings.
Dick Schmidt is willing to serve on such a committee. The Selectboard
has recommended that such a committee be formed by the Conservation
Commission and that it will be a sub-committee of that group.
OLD BUSINESS:
Letter from the Tax Collector regarding August 7 minutes and the
Mason +Rich audit. So noted.
