WESTMORELAND CONSERVATION COMMISSION

June 3, 2008  Meeting Minutes

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm with Marshall Patmos (Chair), Walter Derjue, George Duke, Richard Schmidt, John Lukin, Russ Martens, and Selena Gallen (alternate)

 

Marshall announced the passing of Jim Blake this morning.  A moment of silence took place in honor of Jim.

 

Marshall said that he visited with Jim Wednesday and presented Jim two certificates. One was a Certificate of Appreciation from the University of New Hampshire for his participation in the Invasive Plants Project, his work on the Nature Trails at the County Farm and working on the Natural Resource Inventory. The second was a Certificate of Recognition for his outstanding service to the town of Westmoreland in the areas of conservation, planning and land use issues.

 

The minutes of May 1, 2008 were read and approved.

 

 

Old Business

 

Zoning Administrator Check List – Copies of Jim's revisions were passed out and discussion followed.

Additional revisions are to be sent to John Lukin and he will put together the final draft for the July meeting.

 

Junk Amnesty Day – Marshall reported that he had not heard anything further from the Selectmen.

Russ said that he would email Marjorie to inquire if the selectmen are still considering one.

 

Water Resource/Property Line Maps – Marshall said that he was checking with Southwest on the availability.

 

Community Conservation Partnership  Russ reported that he had heard from Peter Throop and Kari Blood. They were still compiling the results from the forum and would have the compiled information within the next few weeks.

 

 

New Business

 

Energy Subcommittee – Dick reported that the Antioch New England Institute, Clean Air - Cool Planet and the Southwest Regional Planning Commission have formed a three-year joint venture initiative that is called "Cool Monadnock". The goal of Cool Monadnock is to achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in the Monadnock Region. Westmoreland has been asked to participate with the surrounding towns. Marshall said that he would send a letter to the Selectmen.
