TOWN OF WESTMORELAND

SELECTMEN’S MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 05, 2006

 

Present:  Elaine Moore, David Putnam, Gary Hudson, George Duke, and Marshall Patmos.

 Absent: Wesley Staples

 

Elaine Moore called the meeting to order at 7:03pm.

 

PUBLIC BUSINESS:

            George Duke was in to inform the Board there is illegal cutting on his property by an abutting owner.  As this is a civil issue Mr. Duke was informed he should contact his attorney.  However, the Board did decide to view the area in question.

 

            Marshall Patmos asked if the jail were built on County property would the county have to pay to have the land taken out of current use.  It was explained the county is exempt from current use penalties.

 

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:

            David Putnam moved to approve account payable in the amount of $9,538.60.  Seconded by Elaine Moore. All in favor, so voted.

 

SELECTMEN’S MEETING

            The Selectmen’s Meeting of September 21 was put on hold, as David Putnam was not present at that meeting so the minutes will be approved at the meeting of October 19, when Wesley Staples is present.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

            The cleaning of some of the brooks in town was discussed.  USDA in Walpole is heading the project and several brooks in town will be cleaned of debris and trees.  Anyone who believes his or her section should be cleaned can call the Walpole office of USDA.

 

            Hubbard Farm Abatement – will be prepared for signatures at the October 19, 2006 meeting.  This has been on hold due to an assessing error.

 

            Goodrums Crossing Road:  There is a tree that needs to be taken down.  Gary Hudson has spoken with State Highway and they will coordinate together to take the tree down.

           

NEW BUSINESS: 

Mowing:  Mowing of the cemeteries and town property was discussed.  No decision was made at this time regarding the mowing.

 

            Deputy Health Inspector:  David Putnam to approve Barbara Chase as the Deputy Health Inspector for the Town.  Seconded by Elaine Moore.  All in favor, so voted.

 

            PRINTER:  David Putnam moved the purchase of a new printer for the Selectmen’s Office.  This printer does duplex where the older one would not.  Seconded by Elaine Moore.  All in favor, so voted.

 

Elaine Moore moved to adjourn this meeting.  Seconded by David Putnam.  All in favor, so voted.  The time was 8:15 pm.
