Selectmen's Minutes
PRESENT:
Dave Putnam, Marjorie Merena, Russ Austin, Gary Hudson, Patty Krasner, Cindy Hatt, George Laine
-----
Dave called the meeting to order at
PUBLIC
BUSINESS:
Patty Krasner had 2 issues to discuss:
1. Concern regarding traffic at the corner of Poocham
and River Roads. She asked if there could be a "caution" sign erected
on that corner. Road Agent Gary Hudson said a "Dangerous
Intersection" sign has been there for 10 years - apparently little
attention is paid to it.
2. There is a group of residents interested in starting a Farmers' Market. They
would like to permission to try it on the Common to see what interest there is.
The market would offer local produce and products. The
selectmen agreed it was a good idea and to go ahead with plans.
Cindy Hatt voiced her concerns
regarding the right-of-way approach to the highway garage. She questioned the
barriers set in place by the road agent believing the barriers were on the
r-o-w.
Because of the recent town truck fire,
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:
Dave moved that the accounts payable totalling
$27,029.00 be accepted. Russ seconded the motion. All approved.
Selectmen's Minutes:
Dave moved to accept the minutes of the November 20 meeting with this
correction: Although George Laine was in attendance,
he was not one of the residents who was concerned with the unregistered
vehicles and the residential junk. Russ seconded the motion. All approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Paperwork from Sam regarding the status of
E-mail from Sam Bradley regarding Tim and Cindy Hatt
(discussed above).
NEW BUSINESS:
A letter was received from assessor Jim Rice regarding merger with Cross County
Appraisal Group. Although Jim will be part of Cross County Appraisal Group, he
will remain our assessor.
Town rental: A resident sent in a request to rent the upstairs of Town Hall for
an aerobics class to be held Mondays during the winter months. Although there
is a conflicting rental on one of the Mondays requested, the board will have
Tina look into adjusting the schedule so the aerobics class can meet on Mondays
down stairs. The board feels that heating the upstairs is too costly during the
winter.
The board discussed the budget and will schedule time to prepare the Town
Budget for meeting with the budget committee.
LETTER TO BE SIGNED:
A letter was prepared regarding the use of road delineators put up by residents to define their property. The delineators will be removed and the town will endeavor to spare the foliage the delineators were intended to protect.
APPOINTMENTS:
Nancy Hillier will replace Barbara Messer as Supervisor of the Checklist.
Barbara's term ends in 2009 at which time
Dottie Thompson is resigning her position as Supervisor of the Checklist. The Selectmen appreciate her contribution to the Town and thank her for her many years of service. Anyone interested in the position may contact us.
